Stella Florence Long

Stella Florence (Lam) Long has passed through earth’s journey on September 17, 2013 into her eternal life. She was 92 years old and born on January 7, 1921 and grew up in McGaheysville, VA and attended East Point Mt. Zion High School in Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Peter E. Lam and Nora May Lam. She is the last of her immediate family and preceded in death by brothers and sisters Randolph, Calvin, Frank, Buella Morris and Ruby McCoy. Her deceased husband is Harold C. Long who passed away April 24, 2010. Surviving are twins Ricky Lee Long of Annville and Sheila M. Long who her mother resided with in Cleona. Stella worked at Hotel Hershey at 16 years of age and later retired at the Hershey Company with over 30 years of service. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Annville where she volunteered faithfully, the Annville Free Library, Annville American Legion Post Auxiliary, and Annville Fire Auxiliary. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother with strong spiritual and earthly values. She was also very domesticated making her clothing, knitting, and crocheting. She loved her baked goods and would always have at least one pie or cake around at all times. Some surviving relatives are a niece Virginia Ruth Mullins of Port Charlotte, Florida, nephews George Morris and Arthur Layton Morris of Honeybrook, PA, Robert McCoy of VA, nieces Charlotte Ray Cabel of Honey Brook, PA, a cousin Doris Allen of Staunton, VA, and a grandson Brandon Hetrick of Palmyra. There are many nieces, nephews, and cousins also remaining. In addition surviving are Jake Long, brother-in-law, and sisters-in-law are Marion Ercoli, Kathren Wenger, and Ruth Ruggles. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday at 12:30 PM from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main Street, Annville. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 11:30-12:30 PM prior to the service. A time to celebrate Mother’s life will be held at the Annville American Legion starting at 1:00 PM. All are welcome.
