Richard S. Miller

Richard S. Miller, 90, of Jonestown, passed away on Monday, August 08, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Betty A. Winklebleck Miller. Born in Jonestown on June 4, 1926, he was the son of the late N. Stanford and M. Irene Albert Miller. Since 1950, he was the owner/operator of the Richard S. Miller, Inc., Jonestown. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Jonestown where he served as an elder on the consistory, sang in the church choir and for many years was the Sunday School Superintendent. Richard was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Lodge #226, the Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. For over 40 years he sang in the Jonestown Male chorus and served on the Board of Directors for Jonestown Bank. For over 55 years he was on the Jonestown Lions Club and served as the treasurer and secretary. He was also a Charter member of the Ono Fire Co. and served as a Magistrate for East Hanover Twp. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his sons Brian R. and his wife Kaye M. Miller of Lebanon and Scott A. and his wife Susan E. Miller of Annville; daughter Cynthia L. Miller of Palmyra; grandchildren Christopher J. and his wife Sara Miller, Andrew M. Miller, Ashley N. Miller, and Lauren V. and Evan M. Hallowell. He was preceded in death by his sister Marion I. Miller. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 11 AM at the St. John’s United Church of Christ, Jonestown. The viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. A Masonic Service will be held on Wednesday evening at 5:45 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown.
