Harold Paul Raymond Steiner

Harold Paul Raymond Steiner, 80, of Palmyra died Monday January 19, 2015 in his residence. He was the loving husband of Jean M. Wagner Steiner . The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February. Born in Annville on December 24, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles F. W. and Sylvia V. Epler Steiner. In his early years, Hal worked for the Lebanon Steel Foundry and VA Hospital. He then became a sales representative for a stainless steel cookware company and later became self-employed. For 55 years, Harold sold stainless steel cookware. His hard work ethic showed through as he earned sales awards from his cookware companies for high productivity. Hal was exceptional in sales but also in how he related to his customers. He had the gift of being a true people- person. In the latter part of his career, he sold his cookware to the Mennonite and Amish communities where they welcomed him in as an “English Kettle Man” with whom they gained trust for his dependable, honest and fair service. Mutual respect between Harold and his customers sprouted all across the back roads of Lebanon/Lancaster counties. Hal attended Lebanon Schools and was a member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren where he served as an usher and drove a transport van for many years. He enjoyed traveling and being the family photographer. A daily pleasure was working in his yard and keeping his vehicles shining. He also loved to play cards and was quick to take on a new player for a game of Rummy. His greatest joy was attending his grandsons’ sporting events and cheering them on with pride. Hal’s devotion to his family was endless. With every word and deed, he showed his love, kindness, patience and humor and taught his family by example. All who knew him will miss his blue eyes, warm smile and easy-going nature. Surviving are two daughters Teresa A. Steiner of Palmyra, Vicki L. wife of Matt Kreider of Stevens, a son Scott Steiner, four grandchildren Evan and Alex Kreider, Melea and Brandi Steiner, three great grandchildren, four brothers Lewis husband of Emma Sowers of Hummelstown, Lester husband of Lucy Steiner of Lebanon, Paul Steiner of Lebanon, Wayne husband of Judie Steiner of Lebanon, three sisters Sarah Moyer of Lebanon, Sylvia wife of Boyd Felty of Lebanon, and Anna Kapp of Lebanon. He was preceded in death by brothers Charles, Allen, Edward, and Harry Steiner, and a sister Catherine Beaton. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main Street, Annville. Interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. Friends may call on Saturday from 9-11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
