Gladys D. Hendershot

Gladys D. Hendershot, 93 passed Tuesday, April 21 at Cornwall Manor Health Center, Cornwall, PA following declining health. She was born February 25, 1922 at the Wells family home on Lime Hill, Wyalusing Township to the late Arthur Decker Sr. and Lona M. Wells Decker being the oldest of fifteen children. She was employed in Quality Control, GTE Sylvania, Towanda until her retirement in 1977 then moving to Fort Pierce, Florida before returning to Pennsylvania in 2004 to be near family. She was a caring and nurturing mother who deeply loved her children and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband H. Berton Hendershot, two sons G. Douglas and Gary Hendershot; son-in-law John Kapeghian; brothers Howard, Arthur, Jr., James Milton, and Earl Decker and sisters Catherine "Katie" Stephenson and Vivian "Ruth" Cass. Surviving are: daughters Patricia Kapeghian of Jacksonville Beach, Fla; Pamela Windle (Ron) of Lebanon and Luella Gates (Terry Puderbaugh) of Meshoppen, Pa. and daughter- in-law Virginia Hendershot of Towanda; grandchildren: Timothy Hendershot of Towanda; Tammi (Robert) Shaffer of Meshoppen, Traci (John) Miller of Towanda, Milli (Larry) Spencer of Wyalusing , Rick (Bobbie) Hendershot of Glen Aubrey, NY; Larry Hendershot, Fla; J.D Kapeghian and Scott Kapeghian both of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; Thomas (Rebecca) Gates of Metairie, La.; Douglas Gates of Meshoppen; Dave (Kelly) Windle of Annville, Pa. along with twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; sisters Marjorie "Pat" Vanderpool, Standing Stone, PA., Dorothy (Don) Hilliard, Berkshire, NY.; Helen Brown, Wysox, PA.; Frieda (Ronald) Smith, Towanda, PA.; Shirley Blelmle, Wysox, PA.; Marion (Robert) Seymour, Wysox, PA.; Beverly "Peggy" (James) Kobbe, Monroeton, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Decker, Wysox; Alberta Decker, Dover, Del.; Dorothy "Dottie" Decker, Monroeton, PA. Funeral and committal service will be held Wednesday April 29, 2015 at 2PM at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. with the Rev. Ron Windle officiating. Interment will be in the Camptown Cemetery, Camptown, Pa. The family will receive friends from 1PM till the time of service.
