Betty J. Kratz

Betty Jane Kratz, 68, of Penns Creek, and formerly of Manheim, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Over the last four years, she fought cancer long and hard, but she is now enjoying her home in heaven. She was the wife of Lawrence L. Kratz. On August 26, 2017, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Born in Annville on January 13, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Nelson S. and Annabelle M. (Painter) Peters. Betty was a member of the Beavertown God’s Missionary Church, where she served on the Women of Worth Committee. She was also a member of the Lebanon Valley Gospel Band, treasurer of Lebanon Valley Holiness Association, and treasurer of Beavertown God’s Missionary Church Sunday School Department. Betty enjoyed decorating, babysitting, and being the life of the party. She and her husband had the pleasure of providing nanny services to numerous families throughout Lancaster County for approximately 15 years. Betty was known for her decorating expertise. Betty spent several years as a decorator for Audrey’s Delights. She decorated for Harvest Homes, the PA Women of Worth retreats, Bus Conventions and many more events and individual homes. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Karl-Mark and his wife Carol A. (Wenrich) Kratz of Mt. Joy; daughter Abigail S. wife of Todd M. Arnold of Sandy Lake; grandchildren Matthew T. and Emilee S. (Aument) Kratz of Maytown, Jenna M. (Kratz) and Darren M. Durkee of Penns Creek and Erin R. and Drew K. Arnold of Sandy Lake; brothers Frederick Peters and Louise of Lebanon, Ronald Peters and Shirley of Lewisburg and Nelson Peters and Janet of Lititz; sisters Barbara A. wife of Paul Sheidy of Newmanstown and Joan L. wife of George Arndt of Lake Placid, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer L. Kratz, her great grandchild Baby Durkee, a sister Sharon (Peters) Durr and brother Robert Peters. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Beavertown God’s Missionary Church, 1693 Creek Rd., Middleburg. There will be a viewing for her on Monday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the church and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be held Tuesday, at 3:00 p.m. at the Salunga Brethren Cemetery, Salunga.
