Valeria D. Hough

August 24, 1928 - January 1, 2022

Valeria D. Hough, 93, of StoneRidge Poplar Run, Myerstown, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Hershey Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late William E. Hough, III, who passed away in 2020. Valeria was born on August 24, 1928 in Slatington, PA, to the late William and Clara (Evans) Deroner. She was a 1946 graduate of Slatington High School, 1951 graduate of Philadelphia School of the Bible, 1953 graduate of The Kings College (BA Degree), and a 1985 graduate of Clarion University (MLS degree). She had worked as a first grade teacher in Dubuque, Iowa from 1966 to 1970 and retired from Henry Houck Elementary School in Lebanon, PA after teaching there from 1970 to 1994. She also served on the staff at Word of Life in New York. She had been a member of Lebanon Valley Bible Church, where she was active with the youth group. She enjoyed doing yarn canvas and needlepoint. She was a dog lover and enjoyed doing her word search puzzles. When she was younger, she enjoyed sewing, having made her children their clothing. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Peterson, and her husband Roger, serving as Missionaries in Paris, France, Sandra Kramer, and her late husband William, Sharon Knight, and her husband Walter III of Annville, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 4 nephews, and a brother-in-law, Charles Thompson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Deroner. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11 AM from Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike, Lebanon. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. There will be a viewing from 10 AM till 11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Word of Life Scholarship Fund.
