Ronald L. Matio

March 18, 1936 - February 1, 2022

Ronald L. Matio, 85, of Lykens and Penbrook, PA passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on February 1, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born March 18,1936 to Roxy and Julia (Schwartz) Matio of Lykens, PA. Ron was preceded in death by his siblings Robert and Russel Matio, Wanda Snyder, Anita Rodichok, and Audrey Fleegal. He was an Air Force veteran and a proud U.S. Postal Service mail carrier for 46 years. Ron spent many years coaching Little League baseball in Penbrook. He enjoyed camping with his children and nephews, meeting friends at Dunkin Donuts for coffee, and reading the sports section of the Patriot News. He was a huge fan of Penn State football and the Philadelphia Phillies. Ron is survived by his wife, Sandy; three children: Andrea Hollister of Harrisburg, Jeffrey Matio of Dauphin, Stephanie Aiello and son-in-law Joseph of Grantville; six granddaughters: Heather wife of Jordan Starliper, Lindsay wife of Jeff Bergin, Ashley wife of Kellie Dean, Isabella and Victoria Aiello, and Hanna Matio; and six great grandchildren: Alexandria, Addison, Bentley, Emmett, Leo, and Charlotte. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Dauphin County Humane Society, American Diabetes Association, or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
