Dr. Steven E. Houser

Dr. Steven E. Houser, 57, Superintendent of the Annville-Cleona School District, of 680 Syner Road, Annville died Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lebanon on February 18, 1958, he was the son of Doris M. Brandt Kohr and step-father Elmer Kohr of Lebanon, his father Ronald R. Houser and his companion Carol Heister of Bethel. Dr. Houser was a 1976 graduate of the Cornwall-Lebanon School District, a 1980 Cum Laude graduate of Millersville State College with a BS in Elementary Education, a 1984 graduate of Millersville University with a Master’s Degree in Counselors Education, and a 1997 graduate of Temple University with his Doctor of Educational Administration. He was hired as the Superintendent of the Annville-Cleona School District in July of 2010. He also served Susquehanna Township, Elizabethtown, and Lebanon School District. His professional memberships included the PA Association of School Administrators, Association for Curriculum and Development, PA Association of School Business Officials, and the Pennsylvania School Board Association. His community organizations included the Board of Trustees of the Dutchmen Education Foundation, Board of Directors of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Palmyra Rotary Club, Salvation Army, Lebanon County Christian Ministries, and the Boy Scouts of America. Surviving in addition to his parents is a daughter Angela M. Santiago-Rios of Lebanon, his son Joseph S. Houser and Fiancé Emily S. Khoury of San Diego, CA, a brother Scott E. husband of Catherine Houser of Annville, and three grandchildren Lida, Eliana, and Ezekiel Santiago-Rios. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM at Miller Chapel of Lebanon Valley College, E. Sheridan Avenue, Annville. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 4-7 PM prior to the service at the Chapel. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery, North Lebanon Twp. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dutchmen Education Foundation, 520 S. White Oak Street, Annville, PA 17003 in Dr. Houser’s memory.
