Peter M. Hoffman

Peter M. Hoffman, 63, of Myerstown, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of Deborah L. Rodkey Hoffman. On December 14th they celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. Born in Reading, PA, on January 14, 1955, he was the son of the late Robert E. Hoffman, Sr., and Mary Ann Suranofsky Hoffman. Throughout his life he worked as a mechanic and in maintenance. He had worked for ECC Retirement Home in Myerstown and Interstate Dress Carriers in Myerstown. He worked for D.B. Fisher as a mechanic. At Grace Community he was the head of maintenance. For several years he worked for Freedom Village in New York as their head mechanic. He then was the head of maintenance at the All-American Plaza in Frystown. He retired from Seneca Foods in Lebanon as their custodian. Pete was a Media Church Member of the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, LA. He enjoyed rebuilding his ‘67 Chevy pickup, painting and doing body work on cars, and nitro racing. Pete was a friend to everyone and enjoyed giving Bibles out to those in need. He also made several missionary trips to Dominican Republic. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Joshua M. and Joseph M. Hoffman, both of Lebanon; daughters Bobbie Jo Tshudy of Mt. Joy, Michelle L. Deitzler of Fredericksburg & Melissa R. wife of Zach Curtis of Myerstown; sisters Jean Hinkle & Brenda Rhoads; grandchildren Ashley & Samuel Gonzalez, Jasmine Tshudy, Michael Schreiber and Daniel & Benjamin Deitzler; and his wife’s parents George & Myrtle Rodkey of Jonestown. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jamie L. Gonzalez, grandson Caleb Joel Deitzler, brother Robert Hoffman, Jr., and sisters June Wilson and Mae Kalbach. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the River of Life Church of God, 825 N. 7th Street, Lebanon. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral at the Covenant/Greenwood Cemetery, SR 72N, Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Central PA, 1500 Paxton Street, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
