Marion Irene Werner

Marion Irene Werner, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend passed away at the age of 93 at home on Monday August 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She is remembered for the full and generous life she lived and her legacy of love to those who were blessed to have known her. Marion was born in Lebanon County on December 26, 1929, one of nine children, to the late John and Emma (Young) Nace. In 1948 Marion graduated from Lebanon High School and in 1950 married Melvin F. Werner, whom she affectionately called “Gooz”, recently celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary on August 12. Marion was a devoted member of St. Mark’s UCC in Lebanon since 1950. In her earlier years she attended the YMCA with her ‘Y ladies,” playing volleyball, cards, swimming and going on day trips. She was a proud mother to her 3 children whom she ran to and from school and sporting events as children and shared in their lives as adults. She lived most of her life on Hanover Street in Lebanon near Stoevers Dam, a Dam she walked almost every day with their Irish setter Mandy and made many memories walking with her grandchildren. Marion enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Family camping trips, daytime picnic outings, and vacations to Myrtle Beach were a staple in the Werner household as she and Mel both loved the outdoors. Marion was quick witted with a great sense of humor, always cracking jokes and making us laugh. She loved with such a big heart and inspired others to do the same. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Michael Werner (Lori Jackson) of Safety Harbor, FL, Mark Werner (Melissa) of Lancaster, Marie Brandt (Barry) of Lebanon, five grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Alison, Jared, Madelyn, great grandchildren, Serena Swaim, Penelope Garcia-Cooper, Myles Werner, and a sister Jane Bissonette. She was preceded in death by seven siblings. Services will be held privately.
