Kenneth R. Light, Sr.

Kenneth R. Light, Sr. of Lebanon left our world on May 13, 2024, to be with his wife and two daughters and be in the grace of God. Kenneth most recently resided at Lebanon Valley Home in Annville personal care and skilled care. Kenneth was known to many as Ken and to a few as Kenny. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty nee Zeller, daughters Beverly and Kathlene, sister Christine Brough and his parents Earl W. and Francis nee Shutter Light. Surviving are his son Kenneth, Jr. and daughter-in-law Marjorie of Annville; granddaughters: Caitlin Light (Christopher) of Binghamton, NY, and Tricia Hammond (Evan) of Malvern, PA; great grandson Bodhi Barker of Binghamton; and his sisters: Susan Killinger, FL and Patricia Perkinson, IN. Kenneth started his working career as a carpenter and worked on the Lebanon Courthouse and many buildings in Lebanon and Dauphin County. For most of his working career, he worked at Cleaver Brooks, in Lebanon, starting in manufacturing, then maintenance, maintenance management and retired as a Tooling Engineer. He completed his working career at Schott West in Cleona as a mechanic. He was a self-taught craftsman which showed in everything he did. He built and flew model RC airplanes as a kid and as a father. He spent the later part of his life building model steam, gas and hot-air powered engines and showing them at local shows. He had a tremendous gift with his hands and mind. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting with his father, son, and friends. He cherished his hunting trips out west with his father the most as well as fishing trips to Canada with his family. A native of Lebanon County, Ken spent most of his childhood in Cleona and South Lebanon. Ken’s, “Light ancestor's”, passed through the Light Fort, still standing at North 11st and Maple St., Lebanon. While he traveled, Lebanon County has always been home. Ken along with his wife Betty enjoyed watching their granddaughters grow up and then alone after her passing 10 years ago. They were his greatest joy, and he was incredibly proud of them. Most recently he really enjoyed his great grandson Bodhi. Services will be private with family. He will be interred next to his wife and daughters in Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Miracle Network, Mike Rowe Works Foundation, any charity for children, or education for the skilled trades.
