Kathleen Caroline Wall

Kathleen C. Wall, 66, of Mt. Gretna, beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Larry A. Bowman, whom she married in 1977. Born in Dayton, Ohio on December 20, 1948, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Martha V. Wall. Kathy graduated from Oakwood High School in Dayton and received a Bachelors degree in psychology from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. Following her college graduation, she began graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania and then worked for several years at the PA Department of Public Welfare in Philadelphia. It was while working for the State that she met her future husband, Larry. Kathy received a Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976 and that same year began a long career of helping others through her professional career that included an array of positions all related to older adults. She was the administrator of an area agency on aging and manager with the American Cancer Society for 23 years. Since 1998, Kathy had her own geriatric care management practice, Senior Caregiving Solutions, helping guide families who are caring for their older relatives throughout southcentral Pennsylvania. In the last several years, Kathy also provided counseling at a mental health center in Lebanon. Kathy wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. She also believed in giving back to the community. She was an active volunteer in her church and community. She was also instrumental in organizing the Lebanon County Age Wave Initiative to help prepare Lebanon County for the growing older population. Her interests and passions, in addition to spending time with family and her many friends, were numerous and varied and included gardening, cooking, reading, travelling and participating in many of the educational, cultural and recreational programs offered in Mt. Gretna. Kathy is survived, along with her husband, by daughter Alexis W. Bowman of Lancaster, son Samuel M. Bowman of Mt. Gretna, a sister, Rebecca W. Bell, and husband Robert of West Chester and five nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by a sister, Sarah Wall, and a brother, James Wall, Jr. Her family extends its thanks to the doctors and staff at Hershey Medical Center and the staff at Hospice of Central Pennsylvania for the professional care and support they provided to Kathy. Visiting hours will be Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main Street, Annville and on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Cornwall prior to the service. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in Kathy’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 2596 Cornwall Road, Cornwall, PA 17016 or the American Cancer Society, 855 Tuck Street, Lebanon, PA 17042.
