Herbert J. Wright

Herbert Jefferson Wright of San Diego, California passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Genevieve (Martha) Gonzales. Born April 27, 1929 in Berranger, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Clarence Atlee Wright and Edith Pearl Blose. He was predeceased by wives, Sally M (Marshall), Alice Elkins (Cooper) and Janice Marie (Ressler ) and son, Sidney (Sid) Atlee Wright. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children; Robin Murphy, Cindy Wright and her partner, Kathrin; Harry Wright and his wife Bertha; Jefferson (Chud) Wright and his wife Jennifer; Ann Wright; Rick Espinosa and his wife Diane; Kathy Balsarick and her husband Dominic; Margaret Barton and her husband Steve; Mary Sills and her husband Greg; Clorinda Gonzales; and Jerry Gonzales and his wife Maryann. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Granddad Wright will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Adrienne Asam (Wright), Dan and Lauren Wright, Stephani Wright and Maggie, Sallie and Olivia Wood and great grandchildren Willow Mason and Indie Asam. Herb was an Army Veteran who proudly and honorably served the United States in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant and retired in 1970 after 20 years of faithful service. He embarked on his second career as a heavy equipment operator in Florida, Pennsylvania and San Diego, California. He was a passionate saltwater fisherman and a successful gardener. Because of his avid support of youth sports programs he had a positive influence on several generations of young athletes who affectionately called him "Grampa". A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main Street, Annville, PA. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors immediately following the service. There will be a time of visitation with the family a half hour prior to the service.
