Carl G. Martin

Carl G. Martin, beloved husband of Ann L. Martin (Briand), passed away at home surrounded by his family on June 24, 2026, after battling cancer for a number of years. He was 84. Born in 1942 in Akron, Pennsylvania, Carl was the son of the late Nathaniel K. Martin and Lizzie Martin (Gockley). He was a 1960 graduate of the former South Lebanon High School. A veteran of the Vietnam era, Carl served in the United States Army’s 4th Armored Division. He went on to a long career as a crew leader and journeyman electrical lineman for the Metropolitan Edison Company/FirstEnergy, and was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was especially proud of taking part in the early phases of remediation at the Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant following the 1979 accident. In 1967 he married Ann of Jonestown, Pennsylvania, and together they built a life in Lebanon spanning 59 years. A devoted auto racing fan, Carl was a familiar presence at central Pennsylvania’s many dirt tracks. In his younger years, he raced cars he and his brothers, Paul and Jim, built by hand. When he was not at the track, he could usually be found cheering on the Eagles and the Phillies. A committed Christian, Carl attended Calvary Chapel in Lebanon. In retirement, he and Ann pursued a shared love of travel, visiting more than twenty countries together. His most cherished memory was their journey through Israel, where he walked in the footsteps of Christ. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his daughter Jennifer O’Neal (Martin) and her husband Alan J. O’Neal of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; his son Matthew Martin and his wife Michelle Cunningham of Denver, Colorado; and his son David Martin and his wife Gwendolyn Martin (Blank) of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, along with their children, Carl’s grandchildren Sloane and Chase Martin. He is also survived by his sisters Betty Beiler (Martin) and Nancy Weaver (Martin) and his brothers Mel Martin and Stan Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Lorraine Weaver (Martin), Marilyn Grumbine (Martin), and Janet Rittle (Martin); and his brothers Arthur Martin, Kenneth Martin, James Martin, Paul Martin, and Nathaniel Martin. A Celebration of Life with a viewing from 10AM followed by the service at 11AM will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, 618 E. Main St. Annville. Interment will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 1PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A procession will be forming at 12:15pm at Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Calvary Chapel, 740 Willow St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
