Raymond Joseph Murphy

Raymond Joseph Murphy, Jr., 66, of Lebanon, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of Judyth A. Blouch Murphy, and on Oct. 21st, they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Born in Baltimore on March 13, 1947, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Somers Murphy. He proudly started his 35 years of military service during the Vietnam era serving with the 8th US Army Division, Germany, prior to his assignment and discharge from the XXI US Army Corps, Fort Indiantown Gap. He became a member of HQ STARC, PAARNG and served in many leadership positions within the military personnel office to include the PAARNG Inspector General’s Office with 20 years of active service retiring as a CW5. He was a receipt of many awards and honors to include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the St. Stephen’s Christian Fellowship Church, Mt. Olivet Lodge 704, Hermit Commandery KT 24, Lebanon Council 27, Weidle Royal Arch Chapter 197, United States Army Warrant Officers Association, Military Officers Association of America, American Legion Post 910 and the AmVets Post 293. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, traveling and especially spending time with his grandsons and enjoying all of their many activities. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Heather A. wife of Steven Leonard of Lebanon; grandsons Colin and Conor; sisters Betty L. Warfield of Annapolis, MD, Lora D. “Dootsie” Dennison of Fallston, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lila Lee Kluge and Kaye Winters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 12:30 PM at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. Masonic services will be held at 5:45 PM by Master Earl Graby, with a viewing on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery Fort Indiantown Gap.
